Aims, Grants and Equal Opportunities

Aims

Our aim is to provide quality care for the children in a safe, happy and stimulating environment, developing mentally, physically and socially in preparation for school. Each child is appointed a keyworker who will closely engage with your child. We offer your child a curriculum based on approved learning outcomes as well as fun and friendship with other children. All planning is based on the governments Early Years Foundation Stage.

Nursery Grants

All three and four year olds are entitled to a free nursery educated place.  The grant is paid to the provider; you may take up 15 hours per week over 38 weeks a year; each term must be for a minimum of 11 weeks excluding the ½ term holidays.  If this is not possible, in the Easter term for example, then the provider must offer additional weeks the following term. St Sebastian’s terms follow the local schools.
The grant is paid to the children the term following their 3rd birthday as below:

Spring term to children born between 1st Sept -31st Dec inclusive
Summer Term to children born between 1st Jan -31st Mar inclusive
Autumn Term to children born between 1st April – 31st Aug inclusive

Children can join the pre-school before they are funded, but parents must pay the appropriate session fees until their child is eligible for funding.

Special Needs and Equal Opportunities

We take seriously equal opportunities and actively support guidelines to support children’s learning in this area. Each child is able to progress at their own rate in all areas of development and this is true for children with or without disabilities.  We are experienced in working in close liaison with professionals across a range of special needs.  St. Sebastian’s offers a variety of experience for all the children to enjoy.  If you would like to discuss the group’s ability to meet your child’s needs please talk to us.
