What's New?
Focus on Winter
We have been focussing on cold colours and using silver, white and blue in paintings and collages. We dressed up as astronauts in our siver suits and went to the moon! The children have particularly enjoyed experimenting with the snow, exploring freezing and melting and mixing different coloured paint into it. They have been using a microscope and magnifying glasses to investigate the patterns in the snow. We have been talking about animals that live in cold conditions and how we can help the birds in winter, and we have made som tasty fat treats for the birds!
Chinese New Year
We will find out about the festival through stories and play and learn to say Happy New Year in Chinese - "Kung Hai Fat Choy". Our own Chinese restaurant will be 5 star rated! Our waiters and waitresses can wear Chinese dress, make menus and serve Chinese play food in authentic bowls with chopsticks. We will create lanterns, dragons and a Chinese lion to use in dance and drama.
Picture Books
Please keep sending in any spare photos for your children to add to their adventure books (photos of anything they would like to use please - it doesn't have to be just their adventures in the snow!) The children show a keen interest and respect for the books we have. The books they are making themselves about their interests in nursery and at home will be extra special to all of us. Thank you for all your help.
Half Term
Please note that we finish for half term on Friday 12 February and return on Tuesday 23 February. We are proud and excited to tell you that our nursery has been selected to pilot a new physical education scheme. All our staff will be involved in training for this project on Monday 22 February, therefore nursery will be closed. Enjoy the half term break!
St Sebastian's AGM
At the annual general meeting on 29 September 2009, the following parents were elected:
Vicky Richardson Chair person
Clare Gibbons Vice chair
Lars Bevanger Secretary
Sue Summersgill Treasurer
Other committee members include Cornelia Dickinson, Cath Brady and Cathy Barron. All parents are welcome to the meetings, which are held approximately once a term, when such things as the Christmas Show are discussed. This is your group, so your input and help are always appreciated.
Book new sessions early
If you would like to add any additional sessions over the next year, please let Mrs Baines know as soon as possible, as spaces are limited during this next academic year.
